How do I take care of my jewelry?
Use a very soft dry cloth to wipe down your pearls after each wear
A solution of warm (not hot) water and a gentle (unscented) soap cleanser can be used for a more thorough cleaning of the pearls. If necessary, a soft cloth dampened with water can work instead. Chemicals should not be used on your pearls as they can cause damage
Pearls should be the last thing you put on and the the first off thing you take off – this is the golden rule of pearl care
Remove pearls before swimming or showering. Pearls need moisture (they are born in the water after all!) but too much moisture can damage them
The oil and perspiration from our skin can dull pearls over time. Additionally, things like cosmetics, sun block, perfume and hairspray all contain chemicals that can dramatically damage the luster of a pearl. Before you put on your pearl jewelry, wait at least 30 minutes after applying any personal care products
Always keep your pearls separated from other jewelry items, to prevent scratching. Store pearl necklaces flat (not hanging) to protect them from stretching and pearls are best kept in a soft-cloth pouch or a soft-lined jewelry box
Never store your pearl jewelry in an airtight environment such as a plastic bag. Pearls are organic; storing them in an airtight environment will lead to brittleness and dullness
